Purple laser CTP technology development
The starting point of violet laser technology development was the emergence of violet laser diodes in 1999. However, the original purpose of developing this diode is not to meet the needs of printing plate. The first company to develop a purple laser diode was a Japanese company named Niya, founded in 1998. Its original purpose was to develop a light source with a shorter wavelength than infrared and red lasers in order to further increase the storage capacity of the optical disc. The violet laser emitted by the diode developed by the company has a wavelength of 391nm to 420nm, realizing its original vision.
Because the wavelength of the purple laser light source is short and the laser spot is also small, it can write more information on the storage medium of the same density with a better optical focusing lens. Because the wavelength of the violet laser is close to the exposure wavelength of the PS plate, some CTP platemakers also hope to apply it to the printing industry. In 1999, Escher-Grad first used purple laser diodes in plate-making equipment to make Cobalt 8 inner-drum plate-making machines. The machine can scan a 810mm Ã— 103mm plate every 3.3 minutes with a resolution of 2540dpi.
At drupa2000, seven European manufacturers announced their purple laser CTP plate-making devices, all using 5mW low-power lasers.
In 2001, the Japanese company Nichia prepared to produce 30mW products. In the same year, Japan Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation developed DiamondPlateTM LV-1 violet laser CTP plate material successfully running on the plate-making machine produced by Escher-Grad of Canada.
In 2002, the photopolymerization CTP version of Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation began to develop, and then Fuji introduced its own positive photopolymerization version.
In 2003, according to the RIT survey, purple laser CTP technology accounted for 16% of global metal CTP technology.
At the drupa2004 exhibition, purple laser technology became the focus. Agfa, Fuji, Heidelberg and other companies launched purple laser equipment with a power of 30 ~ 60mW.
At the end of 2005, Fujitsu released the latest development of violet laser technology: Brillia LP-NV2 can reproduce 1% to 99% of the dots with an accuracy of 200 lines / inch. When using FM network and hybrid screen, it can reach 300 lines / inch accuracy. At the same time, you can also use 20Î¼ FM network, and it is enough to meet the requirements of commercial printing. The printing resistance of the plate material can reach 200,000 prints (up to 1 million prints after baking). The sensitivity of these plates is between 50mJ and 100mJ, so 60mW laser can be used for high-speed exposure of the plate (the same can be used in the future with 100mW or higher energy laser), the service life of the developer will double Increased from the current 1,000 square meters to 2000 square meters.
In 2006, the purple laser CTP equipment began to be faster and more accurate, adopting a modular design, lowering the entry threshold, and strengthening the development of online automation equipment.
